about abby girl adaptive
My 4 year old daughter has two older brothers, and she was overjoyed to discover we were having another girl in 2025! When we decided her name would be Abigail, she misheard and called her sweet little Trisomy 18 sister Abbygirl.
At just 6 weeks old, she needed a G-tube because swallowing was too hard. After that, I started looking for clothes that would let me feed her easily. I was deeply dismayed at what I found.
Boy patterns. "Neutral" colors (which still makes babies look like boys, btw). Bigger sizes.
I had never been one to care too much how cute my kids looked (I mostly dressed them in hand-me-downs from friends and neighbors), but I have to admit, something changed having a special needs baby.
Abigail looked different. She developed differently. At 1 year old she was still only 12 pounds. She is missing an ear.
Some people in my life believed I should not have given her interventions or surgeries. That I should have just cuddled her until she passed away. A lot of people still believe that if you can't do typical things like typical people, your life doesn't have value.
Suddenly the clothes Abby wore became about something more. They became about dignity. About showing the world that to her family, Abigail is valuable.
I woke up one morning and realized I could no longer stomach dressing Abby in a crusty blue romper or a weird Amazon duck onesie with a big ugly zipper across the belly.
My new mission became simple: Super cute. Super easy. G-tube access without a million snaps, without denuding the baby. Just plug her in and feed her while she glows with easy baby cuteness.
After months of designing, testing, and sampling, Abby Girl Adaptive was born, a clothing line that lets special needs babies look just as cute as typical babies.
The designs combine everything I wished existed:
-
Super simple g-tube access
-
Soft breezy bamboo fabric
-
Hand/feet foldovers
-
Tiny baby sizes
-
Truly girly styles
-
Reasonable prices
